Kissy Walker has served as the head coach of the Husson women's basketball program since 1989-90 and has led the Eagles to 12 conference championships and 12 NAIA/NCAA National Tournament appearances. Additionally, Walker's teams have won five out the last seven conference titles and Walker has been named conference coach of the year 11 times, Maine State coach of the year three times, NAIA District V coach of the year twice and New England Women's Basketball Association Coach of the Year once.
The winningest coach in program history and the longest tenured head coach for a single sport in Husson University Athletics' history, Walker has been inducted into the Husson Sports Hall of Fame, Maine Basketball Hall of Fame and New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Walker has spent over 30 years on the bench for the Husson as both an assistant and head coach racking up the second most wins in the North Atlantic conference since the 2003-04 season, while taking over a program that holds the most victories in NCAA Division III women's basketball history with over 1,100 wins.
Additionally, Walker became just the 32nd NCAA DIII women's basketball coach to surpass 500 career victories in 2019 and has accumulated 10 20-win seasons in her career while recruiting 20 of the programs 23 1,000-point scorers.
Prior to being named as the head coach of the women’s basketball program, Walker served as an assistant coach for the Eagles after spending two years teaching physical education and coaching girls basketball, softball and gymnastics at the Holbrook Middle School in Holden, Maine.
A 1986 graduate of the University of Maine Orono, Walker earned a bachelor of science in health and physical education and a masters degree in business administration from Husson in 2003. Additionally, Walker was a four-year letter winner and captain for the women’s basketball team at the University of Maine from 1983-86.
Walker is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WCBA). As well as a former member of the Maine Association of Physical Education (MAPHERED), the Board of Directors for the Bangor Humane Society and is the former president of The Maine Sports Legends, which awards annual scholarships to Maine youths.
A native of Santa Anna, Calif., Walker attended Cony High School in Maine. She and her son, Isaiah live in Orono, Maine.
Randy Dodge joined the Husson University women's basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2003-04 season, after previously being on the staff from 1991-94 and 1996-2001.
